For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, and Switzerland, we process your personal data based on the following legal grounds:
- Contract Performance: Processing necessary to provide the Service you requested (account management, learning features, progress sync)
- Legitimate Interests: Processing for our legitimate business interests, such as improving our app, preventing fraud, and ensuring security, balanced against your privacy rights
- Consent: Processing based on your explicit consent, such as sending marketing communications (you may withdraw consent at any time)
- Legal Obligation: Processing necessary to comply with applicable laws
4. Information Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal information. Third-party services we use only receive the minimum information necessary to provide their service and are contractually prohibited from using your data for any other purpose.
We may share your information only in these limited circumstances:
- Service Providers: With third-party services that help us operate (see Section 5)

- Protection of Rights: To protect our rights, privacy, safety, or property
- Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (you will be notified)
5. Backend and Third-Party Services
We use our self-hosted backend and the following third-party services to operate our app:
PostHog (Product Analytics)
Purpose: Understand how users interact with our app to improve the learning experience
Data Shared: Usage events (lesson starts, feature usage), device analytics identifier, account ID after sign-in, and app variant. Updated app versions do not deliberately attach your email address to analytics identification; earlier versions may have done so
Privacy Policy: posthog.com/privacy
Langluer Backend and Earlier App Versions
Purpose: Store user accounts, learning progress, and sync data across devices
Data Stored: Account information and sign-in sessions, learning progress, vocabulary mastery, achievements, and notification preferences
Updated Apps: Updated app versions use a shared Langluer account and a self-hosted API with Better Auth for authentication and PostgreSQL for data storage. In these versions, the same account can be used across Langluer apps, while learning progress and notification preferences are stored separately for each app.
Earlier App Versions: Earlier app versions continue to use per-app PocketBase backends during the transition. The backend handling your account and learning data depends on the app version you use.
Retention: Until account deletion
RevenueCat (Purchase Management)
Purpose: Verify purchases, restore access, and determine which course content is unlocked
Data Shared: User ID, purchase history
Privacy Policy: revenuecat.com/privacy
Google OAuth (Authentication)
Purpose: Allow sign-in with Google account
Data Shared: Email address, name, profile picture (as authorized by you)
Privacy Policy: policies.google.com/privacy
Sentry (Error Tracking)
Purpose: Identify and fix bugs and crashes
Data Shared: Error messages, stack traces, app and operating-system versions, diagnostic context, and account ID when signed in. The app does not deliberately attach your email address to Sentry user context.
Privacy Policy: sentry.io/privacy
Sign in with Apple (Authentication)
Purpose: Allow sign-in with an Apple account in supported app versions
Data Used: Apple account identifier and sign-in tokens, plus the name and email address Apple provides with your permission. This may be an Apple private-relay email address.
Resend (Account Email)
Purpose: Deliver requested password-reset emails and community-contributor access codes
Data Shared: Recipient email address and email content, including the requested reset link or access code
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as necessary to provide our Service and fulfill the purposes described in this policy:
